The Spider-Man: Brand New Day trailer pulled 718.6 million views in its first 24 hours, according to WaveMetrix data reported by Variety — nearly doubling the previous record of 365 million set by Deadpool & Wolverine during the 2024 Super Bowl. It also blew past the GTA 6 trailer’s 475 million views, which had held the overall record across all entertainment.

The numbers accumulated at an absurd pace. Within eight hours of dropping Wednesday morning, the trailer had already hit 373 million views — surpassing the old movie record before much of the planet had clocked off work. It became the first trailer in history to cross 500 million views in a single day.

The trailer itself gave fans plenty to dissect. Tom Holland’s Peter Parker, now four years past the events of No Way Home, appears to have undergone a physical evolution — breaking out of a web cocoon and shooting organic webs from his wrists, ditching the mechanical shooters entirely. Jon Bernthal’s Punisher shows up as an uneasy ally, Mark Ruffalo returns as Bruce Banner, and Michael Mando’s Scorpion resurfaces from Homecoming. Sadie Sink and Tramell Tillman round out the new additions.

Destin Daniel Cretton directs, with the film set for July 31. Marvel’s cultural gravity, it turns out, has not diminished — it has simply been waiting for the right web to spin.
